Production Supervisor

We are seeking a production supervisor to coordinate production systems efforts including operations, picking, wrapping, sanitation, warehousing and building security; and to make shift decisions and allocate resources in order to maximize productivity and facilitate flow patterns.  The Production Supervisor coordinates improvements around Behavior Based Safety, Quality and the HACCP plan while engaging and mentoring employees to become empowered team members.

Production Supervisor Responsibilities
  • Supervises – Communicates daily production goals and expectations to systems supervisors; ensures systems supervisors have completed their assigned checklists, duties and goals; assists systems supervisors in solving problems; and holds operators and systems supervisors accountable for their goals.
  • Maintains production schedules, plans and assigns work – Works with account representatives to reconcile previous shifts results and evaluate the current shift scheduling requirements to plan and produce daily shift schedules and assign work stations.
  • Manages employee training – Coaches and mentors systems supervisors; manages, supervises, schedules and tracks the NFPA and OJT training processes; substitutes for the systems supervisors as needed; and supports the systems supervisor in delivering performance feedback.
  • Evaluates systems production and flow patterns – Communicates, reports and coordinates with the former shift supervisor in regards to production goals, analyzes the daily output summary data, compares actual production to target production, and makes determinations for improving production, and analyzes hiring and turnover patterns.
  • Plans, coordinates and leads daily production meetings – On a shift basis and in coordination with the systems supervisor, conducts a pre-shift meeting for the purpose of sharing safety, quality, production data, motivating employees, verifying minimum work standards and adjusting work assignments as necessary. Uses the following standard agenda:
    • Report goal completion status, from the prior shift, and the impact on the current shift.
    • Report information regarding accidents, injuries, issues and/or concerns, from the prior shift, and the impact on the current shift.
    • Explain the production goals and expectations for the current shift.
    • Facilitates questions and answer discussion and allow employees to share any new ideas.
    • Give assignments as needed.
    • Verify uniform, personal, and tool work requirements are met.
  • Provides information and advises on results – Acts as the primary resource for performance and quality standards; advises on action for deviations or discrepancies; completes or assigns the corresponding documentation; consults with production manager and plant manager to recommend solutions to problems and/or ways to improve production results.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Follows Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
  • Understands and conforms to all food safety and HACCP guidelines within the scope of responsibilities.
  • Ensures that all proper training is in place and that all individuals involved with CCP’s have been trained, and understand and conform to all food safety and HACCP guidelines.
  • Clearly understands all PacMoore policy and procedure guidelines, standard operating procedures and employee handbook.
  • Passes all requisite tests.
  • Responsible for maintaining product quality standards.
  • Assists in interviewing new candidates.
  • Makes decisions about hiring, disciplinary action and performance decisions.
 Important Relationships
  • Other shift supervisor and plant management (Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, Office Manager) – Daily – to communicate important information, contribute to the overall optimal operation of the plant, and collaborate on process improvements.
  • Plant personnel – Daily – to discuss and review equipment and other operational issues; to provide training and transfer of technical knowledge.
  • All PacMoore personnel, suppliers and visitors; able to work positively and effectively with a culturally diverse work force
Qualifications

A successful candidate will have strong supervisory and leadership skills and a track record of effective decision-making and problem-solving.  In addition he/she will demonstrate clear communication and good coaching/training skills to be able to train and motivate employees in a multi-cultural atmosphere.  The incumbent can analyze report data, make recommendations, work cooperatively, receive instructions/direction, is willing to learn PacMoore’s standards and guidelines and pass requisite tests.  The ideal candidate has vocational training plus 3-5 years relevant experience and is committed to safety and quality standards.
